My thoughts on Memorial Day
My thoughts on Memorial Day Thoughts of our soldier, sailors, airman, and marines occupy my thoughts today. These men and women who gave their lives paid the ultimate sacrifice. They ensured that the American civilians and the American way of life was protected. Our founding fathers instilled our "American" thinking- freedom is not free. I too served but I did not have to fire my weapon in the time of war- I served when we were in peace. But, if asked I too would have paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend the Constitution and the American way of life. Every soldier, sailor, airmen, marine thinks about this- the possibility of dying in battle. And, when I served in the U.S. Army, this "holiday"-Memorial Day, was always a sacred and mindful day of remembrance for me: All those who came before me, served with me, and will serve after me, I wish them safe journey home. I pray that their family will not have to suffer a loss of their loved one lost in battle far from home. Soldiers hate war, for they have to suffer the indecency of chaos and mayhem. I remember all those who died in war to keep American free and strong. Thank you my brothers and sisters. I will never forget. “Life is available only in the present moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh Come and read my blog! Become a watcher! veryfunnycple64 |

Gen. Logan’s order for his posts to decorate graves in 1868 “with the choicest flowers of springtime” urged: “We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance. ... Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic.” Become a blog watcher sweet_vm
