J always wrote to santa & also always got a reply...dont ya just love that guy. Think i'll write to him this year. Ask can i sit on his knee.

Christmas was lonely for me last year & will be this too as J is spending christmas in France again with her dad. I say i dont mind so that she will go & enjoy herself but it hurts.

My favourite christmas song...i hate them really....but the only one i can stomach is Slade.

My grandmother passed away last summer at the age of 89...........Christmas Eve was her day.........

She was a craft machine......Gifts would always be handmade, and she'd have just the right thing for everybody.......

Christmas Eve was that entire side of the family at Grandma B's house.........Aunts and Uncles, cousins, and kids everywhere!

When my brothers and I were kids, she'd make us all new pajamas as part of our gift.......There were four of us.......And she'd make two different designs.........The older two got one design, the younger two the other........And we used to argue Christmas Eve night before bed about who's design was the coolest..........

And the treats! OH my, there were cookies and homemade candies everywhere! My parents would bake, and so would some of the aunts and uncles......And somehow Grandma B would find time to put toggether a few batches of homemade fudge and her famous sugar cookies! We had candies and cookies packaged after the 24th to last until our big New Years Day dinner!

The Christmas song I always remember is Silent Night........Grandpa died when I was 11, but I always remember him quieting everyone after dinner because he and Grandma were going to sing Silent Night in their native Polish........I couldn't understand a word of it (excpet for knowing the English version), and they didn't sing very well, but the emotion and love that was expressed made it the most beautiful performance in the world every single year.........After my grandfather died, my uncle (his oldest son) took over for him, and we cried every year...........

We continued the Christmas Eve gathering tradition at my aunt's house last year..........I sat on a chair thinking...........A lot of people are gone........But there's always more coming.......We're on the second generation of kids following me.........I sat and watched my son, and some of the younger cousins gleefully unwrapping gifts like I used to do so many years ago..........Although sitting there surrounded by everyone, it doesn't seem like all that long since my brothers and I were the ones terrorizing the adults with our new toys.........LOL

The tradition probably won't last much longer.......travel is getting tougher for some of those who live further away..........And my aunt is no spring chicken either, and hosting the affair wears her out...........We have it planned for this year........But some of us are quietly worried that it may be the last one...........I can't picture Christmas without it! I can't imagine my son not getting to experience the wonderful passing of the generations that I saw.............

Well, now that tears stream down my face and I've had to shut my office door so no one sees.........LOL......I guess I should answer the BIG question.........

Is there a limit on how many you can fit under one sprig?

If you should die before me, ask if you can bring a friend........

Steamy - Unbelieveable that you brought this up today.........I just got a call from home telling me we got a letter in the mail from my cousin who's handling the arrangements for the family get together! A letter that, sadly, did nothing to calm my fears about the death of the tradition. But an unbelieveable irony that your post brought up all of these feelings an hour before they would have been brought up by the letter!

If you should die before me, ask if you can bring a friend........

Slade? Never heard that one! My daughter is already playing Christmas music. I heard it coming from her room about 2 weeks ago. I walk in and catch her dancing in front of her mirror! lol THAT was funny!

10 years is an awful long time to be kissed underneath the mistletoe...I have my fingers crossed in hopes for you this year!
Gosh...its gotta be a good 4 years since I got one. But if I do this year, the 4th of July will come quicker than I thought! I think its extremely romantic on Christmas.....*sigh*

I can only wish.........

At Christmas, Yes...there IS a limit as to how many can fit under the 'sprig!' There's only room for 2! Me and "Prince charming...my Knight in Shining Armor...I hope....

"If" I happen to find him, that is. Times drawing nearer.

My grandmother used to do the same thing until she got too fragile to do all those things. Those moments are blessings for sure. I love watching all the kids on Christmas Eve and morning. Theres no better feeling in the world than seeing a child so happy by that "magical" feeling Christmas gives.
THAT, to me is the best present in the world!

Now, c'mere and let me wipe that tear away...
Treasure all those memories, Storm. Even if youre the one to make the organizing a go, do it for your son. Theyre only children once.

I need a bigger house........my place is tiny!

And be careful with Prince Charming........Armor can get really cold with the kind of winter weather we get!

Whats your favorite Christmas song and what kind of memories does the song bring back? The Christmas song. The Bing Crosby version. It makes me think of trimming the tree and drinking eggnog at my Dad's house. Now I have the same thing playing in my house when we trim our tree.

When you were a child, did you ever write a letter to Santa? Lots of them.

What did you ask for? Was the letter short, long, or in between? I'd like to hear about it!!! Truthfully, I can't remember all that I asked for. But, I do remember asking for Goldigger Jeans. They had a button on the side. I thought those were so cool.

Whats your favorite Christmas movie? A Christmas Story!

What do you remember most about "The night before Christmas" as a child? Every year before bed we got to open 1 present from our parents. It was always a new pair of pj's. I love that tradition and I do it for my boy now!

Do you bake lots of Christmas cookies?
Whats your favorite? Snickerdoodles!

Do you have Christmas traditions in your family? Yes. My grandma has what we call Dupegreta. That's a swedish tradition. The word means dipping bread. My grandma makes beef, ham and corv. She takes the juices from the meat and we all dip different homemade bread in it. It's an aquired taste. I hated it when I was a kid. Now I am afraid that no one will be able to keep the tradition going when my grandma is gone.

Whats the funniest thing you've heard a child say and/or ask for at Christmas? My hubby and I made shoe prints coming out of the fireplace with soot. When he saw it he screamed " Someone broke in our house!"

The BIG Question:
Who will you be kissing underneath the mistletoe this year?
My hubby, of course! And maybe that third person if there is one by then.

Thanks for posting this. It put me into the holiday spirit.

{=}kisses, hugs, and sweet soft licks{=}

Whats your favorite Christmas song and what kind of memories does the song bring back?
~The Little Drummer Boy. My dad used to sit us all down and read us Christmas stories and color in our Christmas coloring books while we prepared Santa's milk and cookies and carrots for the reindeer on Christmas Eve.He loves that song(his favorite) and played it every year, faithfully.

When you were a child, did you ever write a letter to Santa?
~ Yes

What did you ask for? Was the letter short, long, or in between? I'd like to hear about it!!!
~ I asked for The Kermit the frog puppet...still never got it!

Whats your favorite Christmas movie?
~Whats that one called with "Mr.Heatmeiser" My new favorite is Bad Santa

What do you remember most about "The night before Christmas" as a child?
~ My mom and dad trying to hide our presents, mom cooking the turkeys all night long, us pigging out on candy canes and homemade cookies!

Do you bake lots of Christmas cookies?
~ Yes, since I grew up watching and helping my mom bake, its an absolute must every year with my daughter.

Whats your favorite?
~ Anise flavored cut outs

Do you have Christmas traditions in your family?
~ we all pick one name from a hat and for that one person we pick, we go out and buy them a very special present no matter what the cost. This is mostly done for and with the kids of the family. It always comes up even. None of the kids get gyped!

Whats the funniest thing you've heard a child say and/or ask for at Christmas?
~My nephew asked for Madonna a few years ago..he was totally serious!
(at the time, he was only 6)

The BIG Question:
