Framing Text or Pictures, using the background command

Framing a post or picture can add a lot of style to a blog, imagine a poem centered in a frame. And framing is easy to do, it is just a modification of making a background color. On with a frame of text.

Come with me
My love
To the sea
The sea of love

I wanna tell you
Just how much
I love you

The code is easy:
    [bg bgcolor=skyblue width=60% cellpadding=40 border=8 bordercolor=limegreen]
    **Insert text or picture here**
    [/bg]

Framing pictures is just as easy, just put a picture instead of text.

Or, take out the width command, and make changes to the padding, border and bordercolor
    [bg bgcolor=skyblue cellpadding=25 border=15 bordercolor=purple]
    **Insert text or picture here**
    [/bg]

More tips inside. Have fun

You can also use the framing to narrow a column width, which improves readability. The width of this page actually makes for poor readability, but this comment has been made more narrow by using the background command without adding any color, or borders. The tags for this post are:
    [bg width=90% cellpadding=20]

    [/bg]
The cellpadding make the writing be 20 pixels from the edges of the unseen background border. Notice how this post doesn't start right at the top of the comment frame, but is displace down a little? That's 20 pixels. It is also doing that at the bottom and on the sides. The width is 90% of the frame, minus 20 pixels from each side from the cellpadding. I think this frame is 640 pixels, so this part of this post is 640-64-40=556 pixels wide.

I just cut and pasted a second background command, only I changed the width to 400:
    [bg width=400 cellpadding=20]

    [/bg]
The actual width of this part of this post is 360 pixels because of the cellpadding of 20 pixels coming off at each side.

Using a percentage width will give your post a different look from your main blog page then inside the post because of the differences in the width of the frame, 400 pixels on the main blog page, 640 pixels in here. What looks great with a percentage width on the main blog page might not look as good when the post is open, so in that case choose a fixed width up to 400 pixels.

Happy blogging.

Thank you SFW.

This is very helpful.
Anyone and everyone who gives a bit of their time and effort to help the rest of us who may not know how a lot of these codes work is AWESOME.

You can also have fun with multiple backgrounds to create a more fancy frame, and you can also link to other profile pictures.

    Quoting  :

You have to put them into a table.
lonlyshowlonlyshow
For some reason I'm not seeing it... I added border=1 after the table command,
. Add cellpadding=5 or 10 to put space.

[photo lonlyshow][photo2 lonlyshow]

Glad I came across you from Freelove's blog. Your tables and framing advice is good and the easy to follow style is good. I have learned from Goddess and Intergalactic. The latter's site is good but very techie [blog Inter]

thank you sexyfitwoman for your lessons... they are quite easy to read... er... cut and paste. I still don't know how to create them from scratch. But its because my mind cannot see the use of them outside of this site. It doesn't work on my other blog.

It should work on your other blog if you replace the square brackets, [], with greater than less than brackets, <>.

I am having a problemo with the frame of the main blog page...

Everytime "[blog 1SweetBitch]" comes on "People who like this blog, also like" it throws everything in chaos. She is not blogging now but I have left her a message on her page asking her to shorten the name of her blog because it tears up the tables.

With that explaination of my problem, I would like to know is their a way to make the frames stable on the main blog page and quit changing size when someone adds a foolishly long title?

I am just about ready to scream everytime this happens because then my preview portion always gets pushed to about three inches wide.

I appreciate the help you give... you are just incredible and a joy to trouble shoot with.

I couldn't get onto your page to see what the problem looks like. You have your blog set so that only people in your network can see it.

HI Sexy...I am sure you are swamped with ?'s but your blog has helped me immensely, so I thought that I would ask the only problem I seem to have left...I can not figure out how to get photos' (not my pics, but any photo I wish to upload) into a blog. I can get them at the side of course, but what I mean, is say a pic of santa or something , in the middle of a blog or where ever I chose to place it. I would appreciate your help. I am a standard member so perhaps that is the issue. Thanks. Peace Sexysista39

I don't think you can without uploading the picture onto a profile. There was an image command for a while, but it seems to be gone.

You can't change certain widths on the blog. Those are hard wired by Local Sexy Swingers.
