Go tiny, or go Home...

I believe we are truly in a time, different from any other..

My oldest says she didn't grow up with as much technology as my youngest , and they are only 6 years apart...I can't imagine being a growing up in the world now..Besides reading, writing, and arithmetic..etc..lol.. there is now...smart cell phones, that are also little computers, Netflix...game consoles etc..etc. AND we wear computers on our wrists...
Think about this for a second...

My youngest can run the TV, Netflix, PVR, games on the tv...
And I panic when I think about how to change it over from tv to dvd ...ackk...lol
Whenever I have a question, I ask her.. and that's how I manage...

What's coming out next..???. There's always something new...I remember a young guy telling me that one day we would hold a tiny computer in the palms of our hands and that it would cost 500 dollars or less.. I thought he was crazy...lol

What do you think about all this..???

Looking forward to a good year ahead!!

uhm.. i don't think we can compare the two...things are changing so fast that if you don't change out your old phone for a new zippier one, you can't play the apps, do the stuff.. do the newest thing... like every few months....

Looking forward to a good year ahead!!

most of us boomers went from prop planes to SSTs and to the moon and back, space colonies and stuff predicted by Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke are starting to become a reality

I entered the "computer world" in 1969, processors were measured in "tons",
hard drives in "acres"! What we carry in our pockets now were known as "computer centers"! The early space shots were calculated with "slip-sticks" and "yellow tablets" ! How many out there even know what a "slip-stick" is ?????

Yep, the times they b a changing !

In the 70's I told people that when I retired, I was going hook up my RV, drive around until I found a nice location, then ask if they had any computers around here? When they asked "What's a computer?", got a place I can park this rig?

    Quoting wineline:
It's impersonal -- people are losing their conversational skills....

The internet lets everyone voice their opinion...with or without critical thinking involved..

I wish we could take a step back and re evaluate
Indeed...

This hits the nail squarely on the head.
Cars that drive themselves?
People holding cellphones to avoid
conversations.

Using more than all the road!

What do I think? I don't have Netflix or PVR
I still convert metric to standard.....
When I went to school, we could only take a pencil into an exam....now they take calculators and such.
I laugh whenever I go to a store...there are "always" people on their phones....they still disregard the laws and use them while driving. When I shake my head, I get the finger from females!
I was told if I'm going to buy a computer, don't hesitate, because as soon as I walk out of the store with it, it's already outdated.

Technology is Amazing and Scary all rolled into one. You need it, but your terrified you won't understand it or be able to keep up to the never ending changes.

and there's always another update.. or something new that you "desparately " must need..lol.. altho.." pictures that move" sounds interesting to me...
And.. screens that can become bigger.. that is interesting to me..

I'm not totally convinced that windows 10 is all that great.. but compared to what we started with...( black screen.. white letters...lol ) it's pretty awesome.

Looking forward to a good year ahead!!
