it is just sad...

I was listening to the radio this morning where they were mocking a 21 year old college student for the way he spent his xmas break. Instead of drinking and partying (which is what the radio station mc thought he should be doing), he built a 16*25 foot ice castle with help from his family and posted it on utube so a female friend of his would feel like a princess on xmas.

now the radio station mcs were saying things: like what a waste of time, he will be shooting up the campus when she rejects him, the female friend is embarrassed by all the exposure.

now don't get me wrong i would not want radio stations calling me for interviews either but you can bet i would be saying what a great gesture it is than that i was embarrassed.

what has happened in todays society that big romantic gestures are seen as psychotic behavior? we are so conditioned to be ignored and played games with in our romantic relationships that the things people should do for each other are seen as abnormal...

So sad, yet so true. Unfortunately, Chivalry while not dead, has been severely beaten by the masses. For those, like this 21 yo college student, this societal trend could actually work in his favor. No one expects grand romantic acts anymore. IMHO I would think that the lady who was the focus of this gesture probably felt not only like a princess, but was elevated to cloud nine by this thoughtful gent and his family's heart felt gesture.

Bravo to him, and boo hiss to the sophomoric mentality of that radio stations air personalities.

Hugs and well placed kisses - Chris

Yeah, When I read that I went "That is awesome!"

Fantastic idea and big points for the kid. Screw the radio station. Either he gets laid from this or it's not that type of friendship. Or Maybe it'll lead that way. But big big points.
