I am a new commer to this and have never blogged or read blogg's before so am a little unsure of how this works.I have recently been in a situation not the same as yours but the fears are most definately the same. I was a fit bloke who unfortunately had a injury occur that changed my life although this is still relatively new (April 200 and am unsure how my standard of life has been affected. I had a bulging disc in the lower back that compressed my nerve into my leg giving me extreme pain and sensations. My doctor sugested that I needed a spinal fusion, I asked what else can be done before surgery and was told that maybe steroid injections would help. I had these injections in October 2008 and the result was painfree for 1 night. the next time I went to see surgeon i was told an operation was inevitable so plans were made and my operation was scheduled for January 2009. The day came and I like you was alone scared as hell and in the hands of god... I remember saying those exact words. the operation seemed to go well screws and pins placed into my lower spine. I was discharged in a wheelchair walking standing was just to painful. within a few days I admitted myself back to hospital with a temp well over 40 deg. I was transferred back to the hospital that done the first surgery and was told that they will need to go in and re do the fixings and scrug the site. once again I was alone scared and in the hands of god. I was discharged some 2 weeks later and returned home. The wheel chair was gone and I carefully walked around my home doing what needed to be done. a few weeks passed and as I reached for my cuppa I heard a massive crack. I rang the hospital very concerned and was told not to worry unless it was associated with more pain my god i was already an 8 out of 10 on the scale and alsorts of fantastic pain killers. a few weeks went by and went back for follow up with surgeon. I told him about the crack I heard and the fact my spine was creaking and cracking every time I moved. Once again I was told not to worry. another month went by and went back for follow up x ray that showed the pins and screws were out and was rushed back in for another surgery. This was now July 2009. So far I have recovered somewhat but have been left with pins needles in both feet cutting pains in feet and my back aches just as much as before the first surgery oh and my butt cheek aches something bad too lol. MY MESSAGE TO YOU IS IF IT DONT FEEL RIGHT IF YOU THINK THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG SCREAM JUMP SHOUT REFUSE TO LEAVE TILL YOU HAVE BEEN SEEN TOO. You are the best one to judge what is going on not a Doctor
