Everyone's over weight

Everybody's overweight!

Can you go to the grocery store and buy a package of Oscar Meyer hot dogs, come home, and heat a pan of water to boiling, then put two hot dogs from the package you just bought in the boiling water and let the two hot dogs cook in the water for the couple of minutes the instructions on the package indicate, then take the two hot dogs from the boiling water, put them on a small plate and cut them into small bite-sized pieces---- and eat them...can you do this?

Sure you can. If you're like me you've probably done it a hundred times in the last few years.

Now here's the point of this. How long after scarfing down those two dogs, do you attack the rest of the package of hotdogs and end up cooking all the rest of them in the boiling water and scarfing them down?

If you're like I was--the way I was about 3 or 4 years ago-- it would take you about 10 minutes to polish off that package of Oscar Meyer hot dogs.

At that time I weighed 234.

I'm a pretty muscular 6 feet 2 inches tall, and I walk around with size 15-wide feet.

234 isn't overly obese for a large man like me, but it's nowhere near where I wanted to be. I remember walking the streets of Hollywood nightly and weighing in at 155.... Of course that was in the last years of the 1960's.

I half-heartedly tried different diets. Like many other people, the diets never worked for me. Oh, I'd lose a little weight for awhile, then in a couple of months I'd climb back up adding still more weight.

I gave up diets. It was difficult, but I also gave up all the industrialized foods like Oscar Meyer hotdogs. I gave up all sugar, all soft drinks, about everything that comes in a can, I gave up most red meat, and switched to chicken and fish. I gave up eating everything after 5 PM.
When I went shopping at the grocery store I went into the produce deptartment of the store first, instead of last as I used to.

I bought a couple of high-speed blenders including the NutriBullet, and the MagicBullet, and started experimenting with different blends of vegetables, fruit, and natural juices. I read about angiogenicis inhibitors in minced raw onion and minced raw mushrooms.

I'm not on any diet now. I simply don't buy, and won't have things in my house that are empty calorized industrialized foods.

The results are shown with me on the scale above this post. I'm also no longer hungry all the time, and my energy is much higher than it was before. I sleep like a baby at night--all night long-- 7 or 8 hours each night.

Testimonials of how someone has done something are pretty boring, and I'm sure this testimonial of mine has bored many of you. At the same time, perhaps it will give someone on this site the hope they can reverse their ever upward spiral of body weight. At least, I really hope it will.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU David! In April, I entered into a Clean Eating challenge and took to it like a twinkie to my thighs, lol. Seriously, it was amazing. I dropped almost 30 pounds doing nothing (and I mean nothing) else. However, the challenge ended at the end of June and I've slipped back into old habits the past couple weeks... and man, do I feel it.

And then I see this post. I feel it was meant for me. Soooo, I will take it upon myself to feel "checked" and get my wannabe healthy self back on track. Thank you again.
And thank you too Sweettigress! Thank you for such a nice comment.

Food is just so tempting to most of us, and we have a superabundance of it. Learning to control our hunger and not feeling hungry and grumpy all the time is really a challenge of modern times. I myself swear by the high speed blender and that first smoothy in the morning filled with blended fresh fruit and vegetables. xoxodavid

Hey Ed, that's great news! You and I are on the same wave length. It's a lot harder for you to not eat anything in the late afternoon, since you're still working.. My friends find it hilarious that I take out my teeth around 5 in the afternoon when I'm home, so I won't be tempted to eat.. You're a great guy, Ed. I respect you enormously for coming to this country and working your head off to make a wonderful success of your life. That takes a lot of guts to do. xoxodavid

from your feet pict I only thought to myself how your left foot must ache, with all those veins like that..
It's true that foot has a lot of veins, I was hit with a small sharp part of an exploding anti-tank missile in the calf of that leg and it split the whole calf of my left leg open. It was while I was in the army in Germany--in peacetime on a training mission... I don't have any trouble with it now, but I also take some natural supplements for varicose veins.

Your feet look pretty and sexy Silky! Yum pretty toes! xoxodavid

I love--or used to--salt and grease. Things like those hot dogs, potato chips, salted peanuts, like that.. I never was much for sweet things except ice cream. Now I don't touch anything with refined sugar in it, and haven't eaten any ice cream since my second wife died 7 years ago--she loved ice cream..

P.S. Thanks for not telling me in my picture above that my feet are dirty. I should have washed them before snapping the photo! Embarrassing!

How's your vacation going? Are you just resting at home or ? xoxodavid

Your comment,Homebird, is very much appreciated. I'm sure good genes also help, (and the ones we choose to wear can make us look pretty neat). I've always been an exercise nut, and as crazy as it sounds, I'm also a big fan of elderly people who have a series of dental root canals and silver/mercury fillings, really thinking about having their teeth removed and acquiring dentures.

The dentures of today are much different than those of our grandparents. At 70, I had about 17 teeth remaining, and they all looked OK, but most of them had root canals. I started getting aches and pains throughout my body, and came to the conclusion my teeth were leaching bacteria into my bloodstream. To make this story as short as possible, I now have excellent, computer designed false teeth that really are better than my natural teeth ever were, and no more aches and pains..

Yes, Homebird, I now stay with all natural fruits and vegetables, and a small amount of chicken and a lot of fish. I'm very aware of high fructose. THAT product is really toxic and I have no doubt sometime in the future it'll be banned the way cigarettes in many places are. The huge food producing corporations are criminal in their disregard offor human health. xoxodavid

When one has only a small bulb in the closet, it's best to use reflective paint on the walls..ha, ha--make believe old Chinese saying...

Sugar has never sucked my in, it's the carbs and grease--like those hot dogs I used to love so much. I really recommend that NutriBullet. Mine has been going strong every day for over 16 months. It's simple to use and a snap to clean. A 14 oz. smoothy first thing in the morning gets me up and going.

No, I don't think you're the type person to get bored, me either..xoxodavid
