Here's a cat ( a young lion cub), who would probably be able to survive on this desert where I live...regular cats have a very short life here, as do small dogs...

LOL! Packs of coyotes kill and eat anything smaller than they are. Cats in particular have a very short lifespan unless they're always kept in the house. When they get outside, they always wander away from any protection because of all the hunting of ground squirrels and rats in the brush. The trouble is, when they're spied by a coyote or a wild dog, there's nowhere they can run to and climb to escape.
