LIGHTNING STRIKES, POWER OUTAGES, AND VISITORS
STORMS, POWER OUTAGES, AND VISITORS

Last Saturday, July 26, our power was knocked out from 2:30 in the afternoon until 8:00 at night...

So, I didn't get a chance to be on this site, or even on my computer.

Fortunately, the Edison Company DOES have a pretty good telephone connection where an automatic robot tells the caller what's going on with local power outages.

We have a generator, but since Edison informed me that the power would most likely be back on in five or six hours, I didn't go to all the trouble and work of starting the generator.

Even though the temperature was 105 plus, outside, with humidity close to 100 percent, our house is build like a cooler and when we close it down, as we did, it will stay cool inside for about 12 hours.

I hope you guys are staying cool, dry, and having fun so far this summer! David.

P.S. the same conditions that caused a strong storm to knock out our power in Joshua Tree, about 22 miles away, is still prevailing on the Mojave.

If the power stays on, I'll write another post about "visitors."

 Our little Honda is powerful enough to run one High Efficiency AC, our refrig, a small freezer, and lights.. It 's saved us from throwing out a lot of ruined food through the years.

A good thing about our Electric Company is that when the power goes out, they have an automatic answering system, and will tell call ins when to expect the power to be back on..In this way I know when to hook up the generator and prepare for a many hours long outage. dave
