Teach Peace

I saw this on a bumper sticker on the back of a car on the freeway as I was traveling home from work.

This brought forth the following thought - Teach Peace, how? What would the curriculum contain?

Would it contain things that would apply to a country (like our own), or it would be for an individual?

Would it contain certain definitions on what peace may be?

Would it include the fact that as long as you give your populace the opportunity to do whatever they wish within the boundaries of the law that other countries will not try to destroy your way of life just because they envy what we have?

If we "Teach Peace" would it entail that we do not fight back?

Would "Peace" be defined by the laws we pass to regulate ourselves, or would they be of a divine purpose?

Would "Teaching Peace" include the theory of living under the rule of law, or would it be that no law is required, that there is no jealousy, no greed, and no want?

Would "Teaching Peace" include dealing with the fact that if I earn what I have that it is solely mine and that no one else should have a want or desire to have what is mine?

Would "Teaching Peace" include freedom?

IMO, I think teaching peace would be teaching our what respect is, teaching them that just because someone else has something you want, that you do not have the right to take it just because they have it, and that you need to do what it takes to earn it for yourself.

Teaching our that the rule of law is what keeps us peaceful because we accept that rule, and that if we have a differing opinion on how that rule is applied, we can exercise the most basic of rights, a vote, to change it.

Teaching our that even though we do everything we can to help others (our own and our neighbor) that sometimes it will not be enough to simply help out your fellow man.

Teaching them that if someone takes from you what you have earned, that it doesn't mean you have to immediately fight them to get it back, but as a last resort to keep them from taking what others have earned.

Teaching them that all people should have the same opportunities as you, even though they may not be from the same country or upbringing, that it is the opportunity that all people deserve and that that opportunity is what needs to be defended.

Please feel free to reply.

the best analogy I could think of as I read the post , a song kept creeping thru my mind
Imagine by John Lennon
It would be an ideal subject to teach , but then how do we curb the human condition . What would we do to end the self doubts , and insecurities that often lead to jealousy . I believe peace will only be truly accepted we when can all just simply accept ourselves and others for face value and have no other expectations

Refusing to flirt .....but will tease
