Comments Not Appearing on Blogs/Groups

Hello everyone,

We are NOT removing the ability for Standard members to post comments in blogs and/or groups. There is a glitch affecting our review queue; it is being addressed by our engineering team who is working on a resolution as soon as possible.

We understand and are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, and appreciate your patience while we work on the problem.

Thank you!

Update 11/5/2012 5:42 DST:

The bug # for this issue is CD-10137.

Update 11/6/2012 11:31 DST:

This issue has now been resolved.

Thank you for this Aryana. As a lot of newer members don't even know this blog exists it might be an idea for the site to put a banner up on the main blog page so that all bloggers will know the latest update. Have you any idea how long this will take to fix???

Rumors fill a vacuum. The initial statements from CS did a lot to fuel those rumors. Those statements have since been walked back as "errors" but by then they had been posted and seen by many. From time to time there do seem to be enough "errors", "glitches", and "bugs" here to tarnish the credibility of the site's quality management process.

So you REALLY think certain members were fabricating false email responses from CS just to create turmoil?

Thanks for the update Aryana. Hope the issue will be resolved soon.

Tho the economy sux, methinks it's better to invest in domestic resources rather than outsourcing. That MAY avoid a lot of the issues the members face where comprehension seems to be a critical factor.

Delivering bad information given by an official source is NOT spreading rumours.

That was the FACT that time.
And not any kind of fault of the members in question.

No need to shoot the messengers.

Easy to judge later.

You shouldn't have said what you said about MissMimosa, she's a star! This was a time for top bloggers to take a stand, and most did.
It's great to hear that it's a glitch and not a policy decision.

Ive said ill move on and I will.

'But in all fairness' you did strongly imply I was spreading false rumours and you weren't particularly pleasant about or to me on your blog.

I'm assuming this is an apology for that, I'll accept it.

I find forgiving very easy, however I do not forget.

I'd appreciate it if we could keep our distance from each other.

But I do wish you well.

This comedy of errors, both the "bug" (which seems to have appeared as early as Thursday, Nov. 1st, not on the weekend) and the misinformation from CS, is not an isolated incident. It does make one wonder if the site's quality management methodology is adequate. While it's reassuring that the bad info from CS and the "bug" are being investigated that does little to reassure that similar events will not happen in the future unless an effort is made bring quality management up to industry standards.

The ISO 90003 standard, and others, or something like the Capability Maturity Model from Carnegie Mellon University, define processes that isolate such errors and correct them before they become "bugs" that impact customer satisfaction. The lowest capability level under CMM, Level 1, is defined as a process that produces random results with no ability to repeat successes or prevent failures and that seems to be the level the site is at right now. Until that changes it is unreasonable to expect that these kinds of incidents will be not repeated in the future.

How many of us would do on-line banking with a firm that had a seemingly endless number of "bugs" in it's software?

Why are there so many "bugs" that take so long to fix? For instance, the Activities bug supposedly being worked on for a month now.

Any business, and you are that, should have thoroughly tested any "improvements" before release and have the ability to immediately roll back to the previous working version once a "bug" is verified.

And please reinstate the "Service Status" button on the home page, and so save all this agro. Oh, and keep it up-to-date.

Aryana

Thanks for communicating with the blog community and letting us know what was going on and in what appears to be a genuine and honest way.

It is understood that 'stuff' happens for various reasons when it comes to complex technologies.

I hope that such communication is on going and just a little more reactivek in the future. This was a bad glitch because it really hit peoples hearts and souls, their friends were missing and much pain was felt. A messed up notification is nothing compared to being walled away from people that we all care about.

SO, thank you for stepping up to the plate.

Thank you for the update Aryana and clearing up all the confusion that has been flying around.

It is refreshing to actually see a staff member admitting that they (staff) stuffed up. That is not something I have ever witnessed management doing here in the past so thank you.

Feel free to come and check out my blog outtherelinda

Yep, it is official. There was some misinformation given to certain members about the nature of the problem which has caused more confusion. This is a bug -- Standard members are not losing their posting capabilities, or their ability to interact with Premium members in blogs & groups on the site.
Thanks Aryana,

I can see where the confusion came from. Glitches happen and bugs get created. Glad to know standard members will not be losing anything.

Thank you for clearing it all up & Happy Tues,

Ana6

So what would you say about this kind of scenario:

A member contacts CS, gets the information she's looking for.
And then posts it on her blog. In bona fide, she's sure the info is right.

However, the info she got was not correct. Given by CS but not correct.

Posting this info might mean some standard members had enough and left the site and Blogland.

I mean now of course this kind of info:

"As usual, they said that it may take up to two weeks to correct it, but if it hasn't been corrected within that time frame I am supposed to follow up with them."

Which, btw, was given on the phone, not by mail, only to one person, not to many.

As you can now see, it didn't take that two weeks to correct the situation...

My question is:
Should we then follow your example and report the person who was spreading this kind of rumours???

As you can see, things are not so simple...

When shooting from the hip you might not hit the messenger but your own foot...
