My first time.........................

My first time.........................

No this blog is not about my first sexual experience. Those of you that know me, know that I like using double meaning blog titles.

No, this is about my first experience indoor skydiving in a wind tunnel. I have mentioned a couple of times that there is NO way I would jump out of a perfectly good plane and rely on a big piece of material to bring me safely to the ground.

But I have wanted to feel what it was like flying through the air, so this was the next best thing.

Did I mention............... the best thing? It was even better than I imagined it to be.

A very expensive past time, but am madly saving to do it again.

The quality of the photo might not be the best, as I took a still from the video.

So you think a "perfectly good plane" is safer than a parachute?

Then think again bonny lass.

A parachute is as a very simple device with no moving parts designed to make you float like a feather.

An aeroplane on the other hand relies on thousands of moving parts functioning in total harmony to prevent an oversized beer can falling from the sky. I suspect you just acquire a false sense of security when you are hermetically sealed inside that oversized beer can.

Sir Teezalot

WAR IS ABSURD

Very true but............................... I'm still not going to jump out of one.

So have you been in one? Hard to describe how much fun they are if you haven't been in one.

I paid extra to be taken right up the top twice. WOW is all I can say.

Double meaning titles? Why, I have no idea what that is

I cannot blame you Marysia, I don't even go up in planes I was more curious about the cost of such an adventure, as well as the length of time for the ride. Is it like Disneyland?...an hour wait in line for a 3 minute ride?

Everyone is on a different plane of intelligence. Some people's plane has not taken off yet!!

You do have to be there an hour early. First you watch a video which explains the hand signals you get in the tunnel as it's too noisy and you have to wear ear plugs. Then you get suited up and then all systems GO.

My kids bought me a 4min. package which you do in two lots. The extra I paid to be taken right to the top happens in the second session.

For the four min. session it cost them Aussie one hundred and fifty.

You are a lot braver than me....I want, indeed need, to have both feet firmly on the ground.

Excellent! I am with you in not jumping out of a plane but would love to do this for sure! I also didn't know we had one of these machines here - where is it?
I guess the real question now is why didn't you take Roy for a turn?

It wasn't scary at all, and something I had wanted to try for quite a while.

This is the first of it's kind in Oz and is about 20mins from where I live.

They are going to build more around Aust. but this will be the biggest the others will just be for fun.

My son and others use it to practice formation work for when they jump out of planes. Think the most that can fit inside are those practicing 8 ways, so eight of them.

Yep, poor Roy... M keeps blowing Roy and he keeps going down. I havnt heard M complaining though.. Roy lives in the closet, only let out for photo shoots, at least that's what M calls it..
Ok, looks like I'll have to take a photo showing where Roy lives.................... yes in the wardrobe.
He used to live in a draw at my old place, so is quite happy to have the extra space of the wardrobe.

And I thought you hated skydiving, from an earlier post re the death of a youngster.
Must say I did it once for fun and once again in the army, then a colleague was killed so no more

Must say I prefer anything with an accelerator and a brake hence I now blow cobwebs out with a Lotus 7

More fun than good sex, NO, but a blast anyway

I do hate skydiving, especially since my son has taken it up in a big way, but this is different, it's safe. There is no way I would jump out of a plane.

Sorry to hear about your colleague. It is so dangerous.

A Lotus 7, now that sounds like lots of fun, but take care.
