Another day at the ranch.....

I have a sore throat, drat.

The were well behaved all day.....while Jess and I could see them anyway.

Jess wants to go train for a better career as soon as funds will allow. I hope I am able to work soon so that this can happen.

I want to work for myself eventually. In another state with more safe roads I'd open a bicycle shop. But in Texas I don't think it would work for me. Perhaps a clothing shop for the larger figure. The trick will be coming up with a good brand.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.

Whatever you do, if you do retail, make sure it's high end unless you work for yourself, or no one will hire you to do anything else. Retail is resume poison.

Why?

Retail isn't very customer service oriented in this country. You rarely get anyone working the floors, or who knows the first thing about what they're selling. All they're supposed to do in this country is make sure things are on the correct shelf and scan orders and take payment. Hell, half of them can't even make change without help. So when they see retail on your resume, they assume you're as stupid as your average sales associate.

MissAnn As the old saying goes, there are lies, damn lies and resume's. I've noticed some quite good customer service here in Houston, the folk at Fry's, Radio Shack, Home Depot and many many more have been nothing but honest and good. However I take your point if you're referring to certain snooty failing make-up stores and department stores that smell of damp.
Thankfully most people take only scant notice of the resume. Why else do most interviews start with questions like, "Tell me about yourself".
A lot of people who've interviewed me could have been handed the resume for someone else or in another language and it wouldn't have mattered. Fact is, the people who've hired me ususally did so on the basis of gut instinct and my response to their key questions.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.
