Half Nekkid Hiking

Today was a great day for ...

Half Nekkid Hiking!

It was a great day for any kind of hiking. Cool, but sunny. Now that I'm back into my weekly Monday hiking outings I'm really liking Mondays. Maybe I'll make every Monday HNH Monday.

I picked a shorter but very challenging trail this time. My guide book rates it "four boots" in difficulty (their maximum). Last week's was one boot trail. It's the Bay Trail on the east side of Irondequoit Bay. There were no other cars in the small parking lot above the bay, off Empire Blvd. The wild and undeveloped terrain along that side of the bay is rugged and steep. The trail crosses and descends several ridges as it winds along. There are several bluffs overlooking the bay and several places where the trail passes close to the shore line. A vigorous and invigorating walk. Those ridges seemed a lot higher and a harder to climb on the trail back!

I even found a great place to stop and smell the roses. It was very scenic. I took a picture. It was green and warm and there was a nice big soft patch of moss and grass to sit and be comfortable on.



Doesn't that look like a nice place to lay out a blanket and have a picnic?

Yes, a bit of adventure and a great workout, too. This was near the top of one of the ridges, near the end of he trail. A great spot to stop for a rest and a little camera play.

 Looks like a perfect spot. Love the picture. I sure hope you take your phone with you on a hike like that.

There's still not a lot of green in the woods here. Many of the trees are just starting to bud. This spot was like an oasis of green in a brown and grey world. I had the park pretty much to myself so I could do a little play for the camera.

Yes, I do bring my cell phone when I hike. It could be handy in an emergency. And sometimes I've called an A F F friend and chatted while I hiked, too.
