People online perceive insults over petty/nonexistent things/situations even when the insulter doesn't really know the insultee. Usually just insecurities manifesting themselves. So essentially yes that is the simplest way to see/deal with it. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Hmmm. I think anger is a useful emotion. But when all is said and done, other folks' bad opinion of me is really none of my business. I've got other shit to think about, like, do I have enough rum to get me through the evening? There are gonna be a couple of people who might like me, and some who don't.
