Just trippin'

Whoa, what's this? Two posts in one day. I know.

Anyway, I'm heading to Florida next week and was wondering if anyone knew of any fun places to visit. I'll be in the Sarasota/Fort Meyers/Bonita Springs areas. I have been down for very short visits before and for specific reasons for the visit. This time I have a little more time and some free time. There must be some fun clubs or such there. Anyone know? Any ideas?

 When I've been to FL, it's not been with any "like-minded" people, so most of the places I'd recommend are along the touristy train of thought. If you're in Ft. Myers, I'd suggest a drive over to Sanibel and Captiva islands. There's also a pleasant boat trip that will take you to one of Jimmy Buffet's places if you want to get a Cheeseburger in Paradise....real food, not a play on words! One time, coming back from there, we had an alligator cross the road in front of us much like a deer would here! What a surprise and a hoot THAT was for Iowans!

If you haven't been to Naples, check it out. It really is like the American version of the Riviera. And, about 30 miles east there is an interesteing little city called Everglades City that has the best key lime pie I've ever tasted. Wish I could remember the name of it, but it's got a huge stuffed alligator inside.

Have a great trip! There are some really neat touristy things in the Ft. Myers area that will be on my own list the next time I'm down there.

Let me know when you get back. We need to quit talking about having coffee again and actually *do it*!

 Hedonista, Thanks. I have heard about Sanibel Island and thought about visiting there. I'll have to see if I can make it. I have been to Naples years ago, and may make it back there too. I have no real plans yet, and hopefully can find some fun things as well as touristy things to do. I may even make a trip to Key West if I have the time and feel like a lot of driving. Who knows?

And yes, we do need to get together again. I have been homebound too long it seems. Once I get back we'll set up some time to get together.
