News...

Today liberty and freedom triumphed over oppression and persecution. The Russians dirty tricks didn't work this time.

A striped was arrested.

The Republicans and Paul Ryan made asses of themselves with the house version of the Trump doesn't care healthcare act and had a party afterwords. I think the people are going to be inspired to get off their lazy asses and vote for the next few elections and the Republicans aren't likely to do so well after showing their true colors. The Republicans total lack of concern or even understanding of just how stupid it is to have healthcare tied to your employment is disgustingly stupid.

The mysterious space plane sent a sonic boom that rattled east-central Florida before 8 a.m., waking residents from their weekend slumber.

Delta apparently didn't learn anything from United and is feeling the heat.

North Korea is making a new accusation against the US and South Korea, claiming that they are behind the plotted assassination of it's illustrious leader. If you could remove one word in the previous sentence...

At least 50,000 people are being forced out of the center of Hannover after five unexploded World War II bombs were discovered. Yikes, that's not very convenient. There are an awful lot of war zone left overs around the world.

U.S. border patrol agents in Arizona nabbed a woman they said was trying to smuggle 3 pounds of heroin strapped to her backside. Now that might cause you to wonder the next time you see a woman with a big ass.

Swimming in Florida is dangerous even if you are in a designated swimming area. Remember alligators are sensitive about their noses.

Always Dreaming in Kentucky.

Lots of other stuff in the news this weekend some good most not so much. What was your most interesting news article this weekend?

There are strong rumours that Russian hackers tried to influence the French presidential election. I hope the hackers try and influence the UK general election!
I too wouldn't be surprised if Russian hackers interfered with the Brexit vote!

I hope you're right that the voters are about to turn. But as long as the progressive vote is still suppressed and gerrymandering continues to deliver voters to the Republicans, I'm skeptical. The only hope for a return to moderation is in ending gerrymandering, and reducing the influence of huge sums of money. You already know I'm no moderate, but you can't have centrism or even a center with the status quo as it is, and without a center there's' no such thing as compromise. Not very many of us like compromise but it's the only way to bring the poles close enough together to make the system work.

You've read my posts before about the voting problems and such but if the people actually get off their asses and go out there and register early and then follow through and vote then I don't think it will be a problem. The district gerrymandering is a problem that needs to be addressed as well as the suppressing of the Democratic vote through other means. The DNC and Hillary's bullshit that acted against Bernie was the stupidest thing they could have done. Bernie would have beat Trump. If Hillary starts getting too involved in things you can be sure it could have a negative impact. I'm not saying she couldn't be a good president but the Republicans wouldn't treat her any better than they did Obama if she had won. I certainly hope she isn't going to run for the presidency in 2020. The right wing has put out so much garbage about her over the years that she lost to Trump and would likely do so again unless he really screws up and the Democrats are lazy again. But the people are going to begin to see that Trump is not doing anything that helps them and he is in fact just profiting from the office at their expense. They will see that the Republican party is not interested in their health or prosperity unless their eyes are still taped shut. But stupid is as stupid does.

Compromising has been a problem in politics for a long while now. Getting the money out of the system would make a big difference on that issue.

I'm sure you could find something to do there if you really wanted but the homeland needs you to stand your ground.

The weekly news from Greece says online merchants, have a requirement by law to issue receipts and go through bank payments....compulsory!!!!! Recent law!!! So, some, when possible......A shoe merchants has found a way to cheat. When someone buys a pair of shoes, on delivery date, only ONE arrives, with no invoice but a paper saying it was send as a sample ( free, so does not requires a receipt ) Two days later, the other shoe arrives, with another "sample" paper! No receipt, no vat for the country, no income tax for said shoe seller.....There is a reason for the current financial crisis in my country! Does not make me proud, but gives me the giggles!
Florida has alligators? I thought the sharks eaten them all!
Has Kentucky legalised the produce and sale of medical weed? Oh no! I guess that always been legal there! Is this to do with red and neck? I am so uneducated!

People are good at finding ways around obstacles.

The Kentucky reference was to the Kentucky Derby, a horse race. Always Dreaming was the name of the horse that won.

I think it is more than just rumors! They must be terribly disappointed that it failed.

Are you so sure they didn't already exert their influence during the Brexit vote?

I was really surprised to see that the French voters are a lot smarter than us. Good for them!

I was glad to see it but I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen it go the other way. But I can't say that I have a feel for the government in any country but this one.

Such a bright and cheery news report.

What are they dreaming about in Kentucky?

Space plane was all hush hush, but they let it make a sonic boom. (I knew it was up there, but would have been surprised to have it come down over me!)

Local news is rehashing old sound-bites. A nasty mayor's race with two worthy contenders. (So much different than the presidential election. lol) .. It is a grade-A case study in professional politics. (With plenty of outside money trying to influence both sides. - In a non-partisan election. )

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

Something about a race.

It would be nice if the elections were not allowed to have "outside" money being brought in wouldn't it.
