Say Goodbye To Frivolity. A Poem

Say goodbye to frivolity
It costs too much
It takes too much
Out of me.
I cannot be cavalier
I cannot act
As if I have no cares.

They say let loose
Have fun
Live a little.
I did that
And I lost myself.

So caution is back
I could say it was fun
While it was absent
But always in
The back of my mind
Was an acknowledgement
This was not
What I truly wanted.
I was settling
For something far less
Than was optimum.
