Uncomfortable Small Talk

Is it really necessary?

The compulsive need to fill moments of silence with words, any words, whether it makes sense or not......

Got my hair cut today by a woman who proceeded to tell me about her life in painfully boring detail. Twice she had to start over a story from the beginning because she lost herself in details of monotony.

It didn't help that she was totally nervously uncomfortable.

Like.... Just got her cosmetologist license and still didn't feel comfortable in her own skin, nervous.

Yikes....

I REALLY have to find a regular stylist.

I have found it amusing to set up a phone call with a friend and take it on speaker. This friend has been briefed on a particular subject and we go from there. You should try it it is a lot of fun and the reactions are priceless.

Using more than all the road!

I bet that could be quite entertaining. I have pretended to be on the phone before when sales people won't quit bugging me.

Ironic, considering I'm a sales girl.

I thought it was the customer's job to bore the stylist to death.

I hate making small talk. I'm usually pretty quiet, I prefer the silence, actually. That means they are focusing on what they're doing and not on the story they are telling.

Long horrible stories? .. I thought that was the customer's job!

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

Not in my case. I don't really share a lot of personal details with random strangers. People judge.
