A Polite Primer

In the age of social media there is no matter that can erupt a greater... than ones own opinion, or to put a more distinct edge to it, taste.

Opinion can be informed, based on facts and figures. Taste on the other hand is more based on personal preferences and experiences. And yet, a personal liking for pineapple on pizza can illicit just as strong response as an opinion on politics or religion. I personally think it has less to do with the opinion being different but rather that a different opinion implies that all other opinions are wrong, therefore you are wrong... and I think we can all see how it all escalates from there.

So with this blog, I would like to remind any who take the time to read it, that you might come across opinions and perspectives that will not be aligned with your own. If you do, these thoughts are not an assumption of superiority, nor are they an attack on your own views or beliefs. They are just my observations based on my experiences. If you feel compelled to share a differing opinion, you are more than welcomed to do so. Just keep it civil and measured. I'm more than eager to hear your thoughts, hopefully it will engage a conversation from which both of us can learn something new.
