And we know what you are thinking. sucks, the government monitors all politically iffy activity on it (they don't care who f**** whom), and all in all, it's extremely frustrating. But there is no other way.
So, if you don't have an active account, you cannot pretend be in China, or about come China. Anything else (, WhatsApp, etc) is pretty much blocked here. It's simple. No ? You can't live in China.
You need this app get your visa (LITERALLY). You need it buy subway tickets. You need it communicate and GPS yourself through the city (QQ is pretty much dead), and you need it get into malls, schools, hospitals, parks, movie theaters, museums, cafés, cabs, police stations (or any commercial or public building), due to COVID-19.
