All these problems didn't exist in Britain 60 ago,so somebody must have brought them here. Who were they - foreigners or indigenous Brits? Your guess is as good as mine. Yesteday Theresa May,British PM,who is currently making the most awful cockup of negotiating Brexit,announced on television with reference to the Assange arrest: "In this country nobody is above the law!" What a whopper! In this country,politicians are above the law,provided they are good buddies with their party's hierarchy. If Mrs May didn't know that after all her years in politics,she is too stupid & ill-informed to be prime minister,a judgement borne out by the hash she is making of Brexit.
Most members of the public are ignorant of what our crooked politicians get up to behind their backs,but after many years climbing the greasy pole to become Prime Minister,that can hardly be true of Mrs May. As an example of the sort of thing I mean,I cite the case of Robert Boothby MP (Tory) & Tom Driberg MP (Labour),who were in league with the Kray gang. Harold Wilson & Tory grandee Alec Douglas Home organised a coverup.
The daily Mirror published an article exposing what was going on Boothby sued for libel,& the Mirror was ordered to pay substantial damages. The editor was sacked,when his only offence was to inform the public of the facts. The police were also corrupted,& told by the party hierarchies to lay off the Krays & their politician friends. The Krays were therefore under police protection for several years. A journalist wrote a book about the scandal,but a burglary was organised & the manuscript stolen,which later turned up in the hands of Lord Goodman. Newspapers which had agreed to serialise the book were warned off by corrupt lawyers & told that what had happened to the Mirror would happen to them. They withdrew their offers. The whole thing was quietly hushed up.
The lawyer Lord Goodman,who had played a leading role in the coverup,was given his peerage by a grateful Prime Minister. I could cite several similar cases
A more recent example is the Westminster paedophile ring,known to involve many MPs & rumoured to involve judges The death of one of the .is also suspected.& once again the police were involved in the coverup. In a BBC interview in January 2016,Lord Tebbit,that great rarity in British politics,a man of integrity,told viewers that there had been a coverup & that some members of the establishment thought it was more important to protect the establishment rather than the victimised . There was also a recent BBC programme exposing another scandal concerning Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe & his successful efforts to involve the police in the coverujp of his crimes. "In this country,nobody is above the law."

COLLISION COURSE: USA v CHINA

China & USA appear to be on a collision course. There are 3 main bones of contention,the first being the enormous trade imbalance in China's favour. Trump doesn't expect China to eradicate it at a stroke,but he does demand that China takes steps to reduce it. The result is a trade war where both countries are slapping tariffs on each other's goods. The atmosphere worsens by the day.
The second bone of contention is China's unreasonable claim to most of the S.China Sea,in particular to two groups of tiny islands & coral reefs,the Paracels & the Spratleys. Several other countries,most notably Vietnam & the Philippines,also have claims on these islands,better claims than China's. What makes China's claim different is that it has quite arbitrarily transformed two islands in the Spratleys into unsinkable aircraft carriers & is denying other countries their right of free passage through international waters & airspace. US policy is to uphold freedom of navigation,so from time to time it sends ships & aircraft close to the Spratleys & challenges China to do anything about it. So far,China has not been so foolish as to try.
The third main bone of contention is that China is upgrading its armed forces by buying high tech equipment,mainly aircraft,from Russia. The US is not happy about this & has put sanctions on China,though like ourselves,China has a right to buy weapons from wherever it chooses. There are other disputes between the two countries,but these three are the main ones. The one most likely to lead to a military clash,which won't necessarily be an all out war,is China's territorial claims in the S.China Sea.
The Japanese also tried building an unsinkable aircraft carrier on Truk atoll in WW2. American naval air attacks didn't sink it, but they rendererd it useless. If push comes to shove,the same fate will befall China's fortified islands in the Spratleys. China would be most unwise to have a naval confrontation with the United States,which has by very long odds the most powerful navy in the world. USA should at all costs avoid a land war with China,because that's where China is strongest & even a US victory would be prohibitively expensive.
Trump is right to demand a reduction in the trade imbalance between the two countries,so China should make some conciliatory gestures in this direction. He is also justified in demanding free navigation through international waters & airspace,so China should cease its provocations & submit its claims in the S.China Sea to international arbitration. On the other hand,China has a right to buy its weapons from wherever it sees fit,,just as we have,so on this matter Trump should back down. That might encourage China to be more reasonable with regard to other disputes. Negotiation is needed before things get out of hand

The two Russians wanted by UK police were located in Russia & interviewed by RT. Their alibi sounded unconvincing but might nevertheless be true.Supposedly they are very interested in cathedrals,& made a lightning visit to UK as tourists with the intention of visiting Salisbury Cathedral,famous for it's very tall spire,though it's far from being our most famous cathedral,or the most interesting.
St.Pauls in London is famous for being designed by Sir Cristopher Wren as a replacement for the prevous one destroyed in the Gt,Fire of London in 1666. It also miraculously survived the blitz in 1940,despite the surrounding area being gutted by incendiaries. Canterbury is famous for being the site of the martyrdom of St .Thomas a-Beckett,& was a destination for pilgrims for many centuries. Worcester Cathedral is famous as the burial place of the wicked King John (brother of Richard 1st) & for the effigy on his tomb.
According to the accused Russians,they went to Salisbury to view the Cathedral for an hour,then returned to Russia via their hotel, The timing of their visit with the bungled assassination was pure coincidence,they claimed. They did not explain why their hotel room was allegedly contaminated with nerve agent or why they suffered no ill-effects from it,nor did several subsequent occupants of the room.
While their explanation cannot be dismissed out of hand,it sounds rather unlikely that 2 Russians in their 40s have such an obsession with cathedrals that they would make such a journey in what was effectively winter,to look at that particular one. However,there is no law against being eccentric,& unlikely coincidences do sometimes happen.If I made such a journey to see St.Basil's in Moscow,people who knew me would think it very odd indeed. The 2 men were reluctant to say how they earned a living,but eventually said they were in the health & fitness business. More likely than not their testimony was a pack of lies,but that doesn't prove that Putin sent them. He would have been mad to do so.
We need to establish whether they had time to coat the Skripals' door handle with the very inferior nerve agent used (barely good enough to be used as weed killer or pesticide) before their visit to the cathedral & before the Skripals had left for their stroll around Salisbury.If I had been given this job,I would have done it at night - to do it brazenly in daylight would surely have been tempting providence.We need evidence that one or both these men were loitering near the Skripals' house before the Skripals left for their walkabout. Fingerprint evidence from the notorious scent bottle would be conclusive. Very risky to carry it in a suitcase,a customs inspector might have taken a sniff to check that it really was perfume! Top quality,military grade nerve agent is so deadly that a drop the size of a pinhead getting on your skin would kill you within minutes,& a drop the size of a tear drop is enough to kill 10 men.
We also need evidence that they were sent by Putin or a member of his government & an explanation of why they were so badly trained & equipped. Why was Putin allegedly willing to risk alienating Trump & damaging his already fragile relations with the West when he could have murdered Skripal quietly & out of sight while he was in a Russian prison for 7 years? Mrs.May,who voted for the disastrous invasion of Iraq,says the evidence is clear (just as it was in the case of Iraq). It's not clear to me. What is clear is that successive British governments are serial blunderers,as well as being crooks & liars.

One of the main sources of fake news is politicians,several of whom have openly admitted on national TV that "politics is a dirty business,"to quote their actual words. Yet a group of UK politicians is organising a campaign against fake news! Having a group of politicians in charge of a campaign against fake news is like putting a gang of paedophiles in charge of an orphanage. To prove their credentials & show they are men of integrity & fit for the job,this group could start by taking over where a now deceased MP named Dickinson left off & track down the paedophile MPs exposed in his dossier.They also need to nail the lie that it all conveniently ended in the 1980s. They know,or should know,what their crooked colleagues are getting up to behind our backs.There is a conspiracy of silence in progress & has been for a very long time.
Another source of fake news is sloppy & biased journalism..Many journalists are willing to write articles which present speculation as fact,but have no facts to back them up.I noticed several such articles at the start of the Maddie McCann saga,which made unfounded allegations against members of the public who just happened to be near the scene of the abduction. It seemed to me at the time that some of these articles were libellous,making serious allegations with no evidence to support them,& so it proved.At least 2 newspapers were successfully sued for libel.
Journalists are also guilty of retailing the lies of politicians without questioning their veracity.There are a handful of exceptions,such as John Pilger,once a reporter for The Mirror,Robert Fisk of The Independent,who thinks for himself & doesn't always toe the establishment line.Seumas Milne of The Guardian,& Peter Oborne of The Mail,who isn't afraid to rock the boat when he knows politicians of any political shade - even those his newspaper favours - are being dishonest.The Telegraph has on several occasions exposed political corruption in UK. There are probably a few more conscientious & public spirited journalists I haven't mentioned,but not very many.Most are all too ready to retail the lies of establishment politicians without question or analysis. Get your information from a multiplicity of sources,cross check one source against another.learn which are reliable & which are dodgy.Be suspicious of those with a political axe to grind.
The media talk of Assad dropping barrels of weaponised chlorine.There's no such thing. Chlorine is an industrial gas,available to anyone who knows where to look,& comes compressed in cylinders,not in barrels. The normal method of using it as a war gas is the way it was done in WW1. A row of well spaced cylinders is laid on the ground & at the appointed time,if the wind is in the right direction,the taps are opened & a steady stream of green gas forms a ground hugging cloud which drifts toward the enemy.There is no other practical method of delivery.
You could attach a small explosive charge to burst the cylinder,but that would be less effective.Because it is heavier than air,chlorine pours into trenches,but personnel standing up on the parapet or running to higher ground would be safe from it. Assad would be an idiot to use chlorine,but he is not an idiot.

Is it Trump,as many of his enemies are claiming.or is it his warmongering & psychopathic accusers,whose unnecessary & counterproductive wars over the past couple of decades have cost the lives & limbs of tens of thousands of American & UK soldiers & many trillions of dollars which even a rich country like USA can ill afford?
The hostile & irrational attitude to Russia by these bloodthirsty politicians is likely to be reciprocated if it persists,has already driven Russia into the arms of China,& in the long run may well lead to more unnecessary wars. If we keep treating Russia as an enemy,it will eventually become an enemy. In his attempt to improve relations between Russia & US,Trump is merely fulfilling one more of his common sense election pledges.
Scatterbrained critics complain of Russian aggression,which is nothing compared to our own. Have they forgotten the unnecessary bombing of Serbia in 1999 in which civilians were deliberately targeted,the disastrous & unjustified invasion of Iraq in 2003,the catastrophic intervention in Libya in 2011,& the US/UK (mostly US) intervention in Syria,which has prolonged this bloody war for 6 years longer than would have been the case had we cooperated with Russian peace proposals early on.Why didn't we? Because we wanted regime change,which would have been unlikely had we agreed to a cease fire followed by a negotiated settlement.The warmongers never got their precious regime change,so 500,000 people have been killed or seriously injured just to satisfy their blood lust! After considering the facts,who do you think are the real traitors,Trump or his psychopathic,bloodthirsty critics?
What these dimwits are too daft to see is that by involving their country in one unnecessary & counterproductive war after another their behaviour would be treasonable unless stupidity is regarded as a valid excuse, & by undermining the president they are undermining the United States.

Why are young people today like frogs who have spent their lives hiding under a coconut shell? Answer:because they're inexperienced & naïve,& find almost everything amazing. (to quote one of their favourite words),just as the frogs do when their coconut shell is taken away.That's why politicians want to give 16-year-olds the vote.
In Malaysia & Indonesia anyone naïve & inexperienced is said to be "Macham katak di-bawah tempurong" - like a frog under a coconut shell. Rubber estates are full of coconut shells,which are halved & used to collect the latex. The rainforest climate is also very damp,so there are plenty of frogs there too. Do you find many ordinary things amazing? Are you easy prey for our lying politicians? If so you could be a frog under a coconut shell,just the sort of person they delight to take advantage of. Read my other blogs & you will get some idea of the things these crooks are trying to hide from us.They almost have to be crooked,because if they always told the truth hardly anyone would vote for them & some of them would be in jail! Turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
The world is of course full of amazing things,but they are mostly things which the average member of the public neither thinks nor cares about.The things they find amazing are usually very mundane & ordinary,rather like the world the frogs see when their coconut shell is removed

Even if the Saudis hadn't relented on their policy of not allowing women to drive,the advent of self driving cars would have largely solved the problem.All this nonsense about Saudi women drivers is a red herring to distract attention from the real abuses of human rights in Saudi.
People are executed for "crimes" such as witchcraft,which wouldn't attract a £5 fine in UK,though Saudi prohibition of alcohol has some justification. Barbaric punishments are handed out for relatively trivial offences,slavery (unofficial) is commonplace,lower class migrant workers,mainly labourers & servants,are treated disgracefully,& the unjustified interference in the Yemeni civil war is causing death & suffering on a colossal scale. The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Yemen is largely of Saudi's making,but they are allowed to get away with it because money talks,& the Saudis have plenty of it. In addition they are able to tamper with the world supply of oil & cause economic chaos in industrialised countriies.
The Saudi's are delighted that the UKs focus on the lady drivers issue,which they have now de-fused,is distracting attention away from their real crimes,which are far worse than Assad's. Calls for UK to cease arms sales to Saudi,however,are just so much hot air. The only way to put real pressure on the Saudi regime is for at least the top four of the major arms suppliers to band together & act in unison,otherwise the loss of UK arms sales would just provide greater opportunities for the others. Saudi's rather extreme form of Islam is also a source of international terrorism (Bin Laden was a Saudi).

The UK parliament is riddled with corruption &all three main parties are involved.The Committee for Standards in Public Life is a farce,but Brits are better at covering up their corruption than most other countries are,The Westminster paedophile ring (analogous to a similar ring said to operate in Washington) is just a small part of it,but gives an illustration of how government corruption works here.
The story put about by police &politicians is that yes,there was a paedophile ring in the 1980s involving politicians,aristocrats &other VIPs,but at the end of the 80s they all had a change of heart,a road-to-Damascus,blinding light conversion;saw the error of their ways & have trodden the straight & narrow ever since.If you believe that,you'll believe anything.That's not the way human nature works,but that's how the police explain that all the criminals involved are now either dead or in death's departure lounge,so nobody need be prosecuted.
These VIP criminals were protected by the police,who admit they had evidence against Greville Janner MP,Leon Brittan MP,Cyril Smith MP,Ted Heath MP,to mention but a few (all recently deceased) but did nothing about it.This is far from being the first time senior policemen have been leaned on by politicians & become involved in a major coverup.In the 1980s a decent MP named Dickinson compiled a dossier naming many of the MPs involved & handed it to the then Home Sec.Leon Brittan,who "accidentally" lost it.Youngsters who complained to the police at the time were told to buzz off.Thirty years later the coverup began to fail.A middle aged woman complained to the press that Brittan had xxxxx her as a ,& at least one man alleged that Brittan had been part of the Westminster paedophile ring.Dickinson had unfortunately died some years previously,but Brittan (recently deceased),admitted he had been given Dickinson's dossier but had "lost" it. In Jan 2016 an MP in the Commons described Brittan as "an evil man",but was shouted down .
On pages 1 & 2,the Telegraph,20 -11-14 published a 2-page article on the Westminster paedophile ring which ran: "EIGHTIES POLITICIANS HELD POWER OVER THE POLICE...[female detective Jackie Milton] said that the investigation into the 's death in 1981 could have been compromised by "the power of politicians" at the time."During my time in the police there was a feeling of misuse of power,"she told the Daily Telegraph."There were a lot of powerful people saying 'don't you know who I am?'"..."[The murdered boy's father] claimed he had recorded a mystery caller saying his might have been taken to the Elm Guesthouse.He took the recording to the police at the time,but claimed they refused to investigate an allegation implicating 'judges & politicians'." It was the Telegraph which first exposed the MPs expenses scandal in 2009.
On 23 -12 -14 the Telegraph carried a half-page expose describing the disgraceful foot-dragging by MPs &officials who were - & still are- hampering the current,long overdue enquiry.And on BBC television in Jan.2016,Lord Tebbit,who is that great rarity in British politics,a man of integrity,told viewers there had been a coverup,& that some people thought it was more important to protect the establishment than to protect it's victims.As a member of the establishment himself,but a decent one,he should know.Then on BBC1's Panorama programme,11-4-16 a senior Metropolitan police officer actually admitted that he dared not investigate allegations involving VIPs until they were dead!
So now we know why all the investigations of these odious criminals involved only people who were either dead or on death's doorstep. Could this really be a case of smoke without fire,or is Lord Tebbit right & are evil men of the establishment organising a coverup,as they did in the Boothby,Driberg,Kray brothers affair,the Thorpe case &other scandals involving the criminality of politicians? The coverup conspirators,including the police themselves,are clearly guilty of perverting the course of justice,but no one is ever charged.

RUSSIAN "INVASION" OF S.E.UKRAINE

In 2014 the Russian-speaking population of the Donbass (S.E.Ukraine) declared independence &fought off government troops sent to quell the rebellion,beginning a civil war which continues sporadically till the present day Why did this happen? The previous Ukranian government got on fairly well with Russia,depite difficulties in paying the annual bill for Russian gas &fuel. In mid November2013,demonstrations by right wing nationalists began in the capital.Kiev,because of government corruption &the;suspension of plans for closer ties to the EU in favour of closer ties with Russia.
These demonstrations degenerated into riots,& became increasingly violent over the next few months.In late February 2014 a demonstration in Kiev's Maidan Square was hijacked by armed right wing extrmists.The police were also armed,&it's unclear which side began the shooting,but many people on both sides were killed.The Nationalists,after committing some of the worst atrocities,succeeded in ousting the government by force,despite the fact that elections were due to be held in a few months time.The new government was hostile to Russia & began enacting legislation which victimiseed Ukrainians of Russian descent.
The Russian speakers of S.E.Ukraine felt they had been disenfranchised &the democratically elected government they had voted for removed by force,so declared independence. Govt.troops sent to occupy the area were repulsed. Weapons &small numbers of civilian volunteers,mostly ex-armed forces,were sent in from neighbouring Russia to assist them (stories of columns of Russian tanks ®iments of special forces are a fiction). Putin believes Russia has a duty to support fellow Russians in Ukraine,just as Mrs Thatcher believed she should support the British in the Falklands when they were invaded.The US supported the Nationalists from the very start,& there are suspicions that the CIA had some involvement,just as they did when regime changes took place in Chile (Allende),Iran (Mossadeq),& several other countries.

Politicians cite it as an example of Russian aggression,but in order to mislead us leave out some important facts.Crimea &its naval base at Sevastopol has been Russian for several hundred years.Although Russia lost the Crimean War in 1856,the Allies allowed it to keep Crimea,which only became part of Ukraine due to a bureaucratic blunder by Khrushchev in the mid-1950s,when he transferred it to Ukraine without realising that Ukraine would one day be a separate country.After the breakup of the USSR in1991,Russia signed a treaty which allowed it to keep its naval base at Sevastopol &maintain a garrison there to protect it.The population is mainly of Russian descent.
Breaking a promise made to Gorbachev,Nato moved right up to the Russian border & the Russians began to get nervous about the safety of their naval base,especially as Ukraine looked as though it might soon become a member of Nato.After the Maidan coup in 2014 established a govt.unfriendly to Russia,a referendum on independence was held in Crimea,& the population voted overwhelmingly to break away from Ukraine.Another referendum held shortly afterwards asked whether Crimea should return to Russia.Again the vote was almost unanimously in favour.
Contrary to UK government propaganda,there was no invasion.With the approval of most Crimeans,the garrison allowed by treaty manned the border with Ukraine & Crimea returned to being what it always had been,a part of Russia. Politicians constantly complain about Russian aggression,but what about the needless bombing of Serbia in 1999 in which civilians were deliberately slaughtered,the unprovoked invasion of Iraq in 2003,the destruction of Libya in 2014,&our fanning the flames of war in Syria for the last 7yrs? Russian aggression is nothing compared to ours.

MALAYSIAN AIRLINER SHOT DOWN IN UKRAINE

The story we're told by politicians is that the rebels in E.Ukraine were given a Buk anti-aircraft missile by the Russians &used it to down the airliner. I can't see why the rebels would have needed a Buk,which is designed to shoot down high flying B52s. Rebels were not under attack by B52s,but by much smaller ground attack planes.The Buk is a very large rocket which leaves a conspicuous trail of smoke when it goes up.This might hang around for 15mins or more,yet nobody saw it going up,& no one found the rocket's tail section,which should have fallen back to earth.
What witnesses did see,however, was a large plane,the airliner,followed by a much smaller mystery aircraft. A civilian worker at a Kiev-controlled airfield said he saw a Sukhoi25 ground attack fighter take off carrying air-to-air missiles & return 30mins later without them.The witness said the pilot,Capt.Vladislav Voloshin, seemed shaken & agitated,muttering to himself. A year later this pilot committed suicide.
The Kiev government said that no missions were flown that day,& anyway the Su-25 couldn't fly above 17000ft,far below the airliner's altitude of 30,000ft.What nonsense! A WW2 Hurricane could reach 34,000ft in 1941,& was far from being our best fighter.A German aviation expert examined parts of the wreckage on TV & said some holes were made by 30mm cannon.The Su-25 has a 30mm cannon.Why would a Ukrainian Airforce pilot (or anyone else,for that matter) shoot down an airliner? Perhaps he thought it was a transport bringing weapons &supplies to the rebels.
The theory that best fits the facts is that a Kiev fighter shot down the airliner for reasons unknown.This would explain why the Kiev govt. lied about it & immediately launched an offensive in the area which prevented an investigation team reaching the site. There are warnings from history about what can happen if you jump to conclusions without waiting for the facts.the Iraq War being a recent example.The Skripals affair is a strange case which bristles with anomalies.In Army lectures we were told that a drop of nerve agent the size of a pinhead on your skin would kill you within a few minutes,but the Skripals handled a door knob coated with the stuff & were able to stroll around Salisbury for several hours before becoming seriously ill. Government propaganda has it that only the Russians,with state connivance,could have done it,as the poison was Russian made.
The reality is that many countries have produced Novachoc,which is a generic term for a large number of closely similar substances.It is hinted that Putin must have authorised the attack,but that is doubtful.Putin is not stupid.He would have realised such an attack would cause an international outcry which would be bad for Russia,especially with the world cup due to be played there soon. If he was so keen to murder Serge Skripal,he could have done it quietly & out of sight during the 6yrs when Skripal was in a Russian prison.
There must have been a lot more than a pinhead amount of poison on the door handle,but far from being dead within 5mins,both Skripals have made a good recovery (his was collateral damage & not the target herself).If what we're told is true, Russian nerve agent is rubbish,little better than one of the more toxic organophosphate pesticides,which kill thousands of people every year,have similar chemistry & require the same treatment,atropine & diazepam.
