Someone's profile stated that they were nervous about meeting people on the internet. I guess I, too, am looking for tips & other things on this as well as informing about safety of meeting someone in person after meeting on the internet. However, from various sources that I cannot even remember, it's not just meet on the internet & then meet in real life.
In my case, I have been extremely lucky in my two encounters. The first person, we emailed back & forth after meeting in a yahoogroup, when it was still OneList. We met twice, the first time, just going out for coffee & walking around the neighborhood. The second & third time were the same people, pretty much, that I had encountered in a paid-to-chat site. We had been playing multi-player games together, & chatting for over a year before planning to meet. They also happened to have some vacation time that they used, somehow & coincidentally, at the same time, & it was mainly an all-day event walking around New York City, & getting our eyeballs back into our heads after seeing what the various restaurants were charging.
Like it said on the Local Sexy Swingers email area, email addresses & IM ID's should not be given out right away. Exchange a few messages first. After that, maybe a few phone conversations. Then when planning to meet, it should always be in a public place, such as maybe out for coffee or lunch maybe, or dinner in a resturant. Perhaps more than one meeting in a public place might be better.
Anyway, I hope I'm not forgetting anything, especially if it is something critical, other than if someone asks for money, don't do it.
