What makes you feel loved?

What would make *ME* feel loved... RIGHT now... is having it be suggested I stay home from work tomorrow, followed by a message left on my behalf that I'm sick and won't make it in, then a bubble bath, a massage, and a night of slow love-making by candlelight. Then, tomorrow, going and hanging out at the beach.
And all that bubble bath, massage, love making stuff... only AFTER the air conditioning unit is installed.
So I guess what would make me feel loved comes down to installation of a new a/c. LOL. Apparently I'm easier than I thought. Though to be fair... it *IS* supposed to be 96 F tomorrow (34 C). This is late July, August weather. NOT early June

50 Shades - I finally watched the movie

Sunday afternoon I had a stay-at-home long-distance Movie Date... and we chose to watch 50 Shades. Call it morbid curiosity.
I read the books (2 out of 3 - I want to read the 3rd but refuse to spend a single penny. I'm hoping their characters redeem themselves a little bit), and after hearing both sides of the controversy... my main issue is how stupid the author made Anastasia. I'd have to read the books again to give a more in depth view, but what totally lost me is when she tripped and fell while walking in the door to Christian's office.
How horrifying that this is the one movie that stuck true to book LOL. They COULD have improved it. Somewhere, anywhere.
My date was busy analyzing the movie and characters. Me? Other than a few horrified moments (like her tripping) and shock (did he sniff her panties in the book? I don't remember. And while I know guys do that sometimes - it was NOT something I ever expected to see on screen!) ... my mind was only 3/4 processing the movie at best. I found Anastasia to be a very flat character. No ups or downs of emotions or tone of voice, overall. Monotonous.
Sad to admit but the movie did excite me a bit. Mostly there was just enough sensuality in certain scenes to get my mind running (thus my "only 3/4 at best" attention span) and the music was conducive to sensual love making too, despite whatever the characters were doing at the time. And the ice play looked ... fun. On the other hand I surely would scream first.
Was it just me, or did Anastasia start writhing in ecstasy long before Christian ever touched her in every scene? I swear there was one scene where she was thrashing and writhing around and then it switched to him "Hey there, I'm just taking my shirt off a few feet away".
The funniest scene ever: The conference table when he looks across at her after a serious discussion and states "I want to fuck you into next week".
My response?
"I want to fuck you into next week" <-- amateurs!!! Next week? PUH-LEEZ. If you're gonna do it, do it right! Next month at the absolute earliest. (And no cheating by starting on Sat. the 31st at 11:55pm LO

Some Weekends More Than Others

It's interesting how time works.
Some weekends are over before they begin. Others loom pregnant with possibilities and the feeling of more than enough time to get everything done.
Last weekend was a 3-day weekend. I felt like nothing got done at all. Went back to work on Tuesday excited it's that much closer to weekend. Wednesday... yay! So excited. Yay, Friday! ... oh, wait, it's only Thursday. It should be Friday already! Why is the week dragging?! (A number of my coworkers experienced the same phenomena. We all whined about it yesterday).
This weekend... It's only two days but it feels huge.
Of course my Friday evening road trip and visit just got cancelled so that's 4 hours of not driving which I can use for something else. We're rescheduling for next month and I will simply go camping for the weekend while visiting.
My weekend list of plans is too tiring to share (I've already written it once) but... with any luck TONS done. Some work, some play.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and spends time in enjoyable pursuits.

Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend! So far my Friday has been spent wasting time at home. Getting NONE of the things done I'd planned to. Though tonight, tomorrow, Sunday... whenever. Though it's probably too late to jump in the river tonight. Sun's going down and it's probably too cold.

Tomorrow... I get to hang out with 100 or so of my closest friends/acquaintances/friends-yet-to-meet (and a few total and forever strangers) in the sun. Do some archery perhaps, some classes in various historical activities, a bit of shopping perhaps. I'm bringing 3 of my drums to let people play with and if I stay late enough I will sit at a campfire and drum while women belly dance. I'm relying heavily on their professionalism and ability to adjust to the music as I've no idea what I'm doing lol. But... it's a drum and it makes noise. Part of me just wants to sit at home, maybe go swimming, do nothing. But people are hoping to see me.

Ideas are brewing... but not ready for blogging yet. Sooooo... here's some random stuff. Just because.
1: it's already been mentioned but apparently I'm not the introvert I thought I was.
2: The back of my thighs are ticklish  Took me 39.95 years to discover that. VERY ticklish. No: you may not try it and see. haha.
3: The best bookmark ever:
Why? Because it costs $2.95 and up to BUY a bookmark. This only costs a dollar.
Of course, like all other bookmarks I own... it will forever stay inside the book it was originally used for (which happens to be a cookbook).
Does anybody else do that? Gifted a bookmark and a book: They stay together for eternity. Unless I get rid of the book - at which point the bookmark moves to another book. And if I'm done with that book and need a bookmark? I will tear off a corner of whatever scrap paper or fabric strip or piece of yarn happens to be lying around.
4: BOOBIES!!! (and babies - with attitude)
5: I'm presently only reading two books. Suddenly I sense my other books feel left out. It's more typical for me to be reading 3 - 5. Not counting "The World's Most Dangerous Places" - I've been reading that book for over 10 years. Because I can only handle a few chapters then I start dreaming all my coworkers are being tortured and killed by guerrilla fighters and psycho killers and such. Then the book gets set aside a few years.
6: Sunday May 24th is the next virtual symposium Bridesmaid Becomes A Bride Food Is The Topic For The Eighth Virtual Symposium - I'm excited to participate May even participate twice. Hmmm.... more ideas to dig through.... (Fellow bloggers: Feel free to join in!)
7: Books... I think I need to go find something to read.

I've always prided myself on going for the mind and heart and soul. NOT the physical. Of course the physical matters a little bit but... not so much.
I recently had a guy send me a pic of himself - a hint of hairy chest, wearing glasses - and I was so filled with instant lust... it's almost insane.
NOT my normal reaction lol.
He happens to know I really like his mind, heart, and soul. But... dang. My reaction to his pic makes me feel a bit shallow.

Day 1 of being 40

Odd... birthday's 30 - 39 upset me. 40? Meh.
My neighbor asked me how it feels being 40. I told her exactly the same as being 39. Though, to be fair, I spent a goodly portion of 39 mentally preparing for 40.
"They say life gets better after 40"
"Your first 39 years is spent stressing and worrying what others think... by 40 you no longer care"
Or it could have been my Unofficial 2015 motto: "F*ck this sh*t"
My birthday itself was rather lonely. I took myself to breakfast (Thanks, Denny's! Free Bday Grand Slam). Then hung out at mom's all day. She's out of town for a few weeks and I'm watering her plants. I also took advantage of her washer and dryer and watched DVD's all day. Then hit the bookstore and took myself to dinner on the way home (it was raining and I was tired so I didn't take myself for free Bday steak and potato at a local bar/restaurant this year)
Today was great though. Woke up to the most beautiful heart-felt message from my . She told her boyfriend last night that on their 's 16th Bday... she is going to give her the ring I gave to HER on her 16th. And all sorts of how much she appreciated me in her life, and that she'd have been lost and nowhere near the person she is today had I not been there for her all these years. (for those not knowing: I met her when she was 4. She's 24 now and expecting her first ).
I also got to spend textual time with somebody I love and, due to time difference, we "shared" a birthday for 8 hours.
An aunt and uncle took me for a picnic in the lilac gardens at Manito Park. Today was the perfect day for it... sunny and warm but breezy so not too hot. Pic is from the internet... I was dumb and didn't think to take any myself

They just aren't all they're cracked up to be!
Is it a gender thing? Or a "me" thing? The only thing a cold shower does for me is turn "frisky as hell" into "cold and wet and frisky as hell".
On the other hand....

Learning about sex

Once upon a time I was innocent and a virgin.
Except ... I had a vivid imagination. And read lots of books.
That was one of the reasons Anastasia in "50 Shades" drove me insane when I read the book. I knew more about sex living in my parents home, with an overprotective mother and an overly healthy dose of parental terror (of the good kind. Yes, despite I turn 40 on Saturday, I still fear upsetting my mom. Though I've gotten great at 'don't ask, don't tell, pretend I agree and go do my own thing' over the years). How can ANYbody know so little about sex by age 20+ as Anastasia seemed to is beyond me.
When I was 16 I thought it ideal to marry another virgin... though I was also terrified of the thought. How would I ever explain all my knowledge of sex and intimacy and have him not call me a liar and divorce me on the spot?
And, after I turned 20 and was in my first serious "adult" relationship (still a virgin) I decided I wanted to learn all I could about sex so that, when I did get married and gifted my virginity, I'd totally WOW him (the guy I was in love with and thought to marry at that time was 17 years older, divorced and 4 ). Thus: I went book shopping. I already owned The Kama Sutra (Complete Edition - there's really very little sex in the book. I still kept it hid through high school. I didn't know what it was when I bought it). I then added a Persian version (The Scented Garden? I'd have to look), and a few books by various "sex experts". Plus of course there are various versions with photos and position names.
Funny thing is half the things I tried after taking that next step in the relationship came out of my own mind and curiosity. It wasn't until much later that I happened to be flipping through a book and "Oh, hey! Look at that... there's actually a name for what we were doing"
How did you learn about sex? Sex ed? (though that never really said much that I remember. Half the time I slept). Porn? Older siblings? Trial and error? Books?
