And I know you all do too!

I'm sure the tax man is one of the less loved people in all of our lives but I found something out the other day that just irritated me a bit more than usual concerning our dear friends at the IRS. But first let me give a smidgen of background to the story.

I had to totally clean out my hard drive last year due to massive infections (if one of them had turned out to be Gangrenous we would've amputated it was that bad) Anywho I managed to lose the return I submitted last year and didn't bother to hang on to any other tax stuff I got from the government. Long story short I couldn't remember my AGI from last year and had to call the IRS...

First I spend close to 30 minutes verifying its me in order to get the information about my AGI circa 2008. Then I asked about the status of my "Stimulus Check" from oh so many years ago. Turns out I didn't qualify the first year as I was out of country for most of the tax year. Second time around it never made it to me, and I was politely informed that they would rectify that situation (riiiight). Just as I am about to close out my highly informative conversation with the IRS representative I'm informed that I owe $12.37 in interest on payments. From 2007. What?!?! Is this shit for real?

Turns out that said year I owed a substantial amount of tax, filled out my forms and submitted them. 6 weeks later I got a check from the IRS less $2. 5 months later I got a statement from the IRS that I failed to pay my taxes that I owed more than I even initially thought plus interest. Well I got the final numbers sent them the check and that was the end of it. Or so I thought...

In summation. The most important collection of words we have as Americans is the Constitution. A few thousand words at best, and that describes the structure of government and all its powers. The tax code is over a million words. Its so complicated that tax attorneys have other tax attorneys prepare their taxes. Burn that shit and start over...
