A Fathers' Day with a Special Meaning Entry for June 17, 2007

Today has an extra meaning for me not only today is fathers' day it's also my fathers birthday he would been 63. That sounds like I'm a father but I have yet to be blessed. But anyways what makes it tough for me is that my father had passed away nearly 13 years ago of sudden cardiac arrest in november of 1994. He was a good man and a wonderful father. I thank God that I was able to have such a father in my life as I see everyday how many goes through their childhood not knowing who their dad is or they had lost him at a very very young age and broken marriages. I know from a first hand view of how a bad divorce can keep a loving father from his . My dad was married before he married my mother. He had two with that woman one boy and a girl. He tried his best to be in their lives but his ex wouldn't cooperate with him. The girl kindof stayed in touch with dad but the boy I guess held a grudge for dad leaving them. As they got older my dad and his oldest girl got closer but tragically she passed away in 1991 after giving birth to my dads first grandchild. With her passing you think that the boy would have changed his mind about his younger half brother and sister but no he has to be stubborn. Fast forward to 1994 when my father passed away you would think that would definably change his way of thinking but that didn't change a thing. So if it wasn't for me and my sister my dad wouldn't have had privilege of seeing grow up and become adults in front of his eyes instead of by pictures.
After growing up in that environment and seeing how things can go is probably why I am waiting on the right woman and to make sure it's gonna last. I know I am getting up there in age and I don't know if I'll ever have any biological of my own, but I do know that if I was to find the right woman and she already has I would love them just as much as if they were biologically mine.
Once again I thank God for the 21 years I got to spend with him and I know someday I will spend eternity with him in heaven. For those who's fathers are still here upon this Earth I say unto you cherish each and every moment you spend with him as you never know what the next moment could bring. For those who have lost your father cherish those wonderful memories and keep them close to your heart. I wish all the fathers out there a happy fathers' day.
