Fake profiles

Sorry if this issue has already been discussed elsewhere. I couldn't really be bothered to trawl through all the blogs looking for it.
I've been a member of several sex dating sites on and off for a couple of years now. I have come to the conclusion a large number of single females posting profiles are actually fakes. Some profiles are more blatant than others - I've even seen profiles of women claiming to be British with photos of famous American porn stars on them!
I think there are three main reasons why people post fake profiles:
1. Attempt to get you to reveal your email address so they can bombard your mailbox with spam,
2. Attempt to get you to visit another site where you will be asked to give your credit card details for some service like web cam chat.
3. Men who like to pretend to be sexy single women.
I disapprove of all three, but I can understand the financial motives for the first two. However, I cannot understand what reward a man would get from pretending to be a woman, other than getting some thrill out of knowing he is misleading and frustrating other men. Am I missing something here?
I'm interested to hear people's views and theories on this subject.
